At this meeting IREM members can expect to receive an overview of emergency management at the county level, along with preparedness information, and a glimpse into the importance of continuity of operations plans. Afterwards, a live demonstration of the Emergency Command Vehicle will be conducted. Members will be invited to tour the command vehicle and learn about the numerous capabilities this resource offers to both county emergency management, and to Real Estate Managers.
Sean Alliger, Pisces, has worked for Howard County Fire and Rescue since May of 1997. After graduating from the County’s Twelfth Recruit School, he was assigned to the Clarksville Station. He has since worked in Elkridge and Columbia, spending time at the department’s Special Operations Station (HAZMAT, Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue, etc.) and after promoting to Lieutenant in 2003, four years at the Long Reach Station, the County’s busiest. He has been an Advanced Life Support provider since 1996 and was certified as a Nationally Registered Paramedic in 1999. He has attended the National Fire Academy’s "Command and General Staff Functions" Program and according to his wife, walks on water! He joined the Office of Emergency Management in 2008.
Pam Hobbs, notably less entertaining than Mr. Alliger, has worked several years in the emergency management field. Among those positions, she has worked with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency in their Exercise and Training branch designing exercises for top officials in the National Capital Region, the State of Maryland, and local jurisdictions. She also worked with the Department of Disabilities, coordinating emergency response, planning, training, and organizing community outreach representing vulnerable populations across the state. She started working with Howard County in 2008 as one of the Emergency Planners.
